Hi everybody!

Happy Monday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I recently posted about first impressions with outerwear, but since that post the temperature in Boston has continued to drop, and I thought I would share my current favorite outerwear option. This baby has been playfully dubbed my “early winter jacket,” since when the temperature really drops I will resort a serious, knee-length down jacket. In the mean time, this is my go-to. It’s warm and cuddly and the wool is soft and not at all scratchy. And, seriously, just look at that hood.

What are your favorites for this cold-before-the-storm type of weather?

Today I want to talk outerwear. Specifically work-appropriate outerwear. There’s nothing quite like showing up for an interview, a lunch with a mentor, or a visit to a client site with a North Face fleece covering the polished outfit you put together that morning. I get it. We’ve all been there. And I truly love me some activewear. But just think of the potential first impressions you could be making. It’s called opportunity cost, people.

As they say, winter is coming, and that means its time to get a presentable, flattering (and preferably warm) coat you can wear to work-related events. You’ll look and feel great both inside those heated buildings, as well as when you grab your coat to head outside. And you’ll thank me when the compliments start coming your way.

In case you need a bit more inspiration, here are few pieces I’ve been eyeing recently. What do you think?

1. Banana Republic Draped Wool Coat
2. Piperlime Wool Moto Jacket
3. Rebecca Minkoff Finley Coat
4. Club Monaco Lana Calf Hair Coat
5. Cole Haan Duffle Coat
6. Mackage Zandra Coat

Thank you so much for reading, and happy hunting!

This weekend my love affair with jeans and booties for fall continued. What can I say? It’s one of those tried and true – or should I say tailored and true (get it?! … yeah, it’s been a long day…) – combos that just can’t do any wrong. I visited my parents house in Maine, and despite the lovely sunshine, it was chilly up there! The visit called for some warm layers, and it felt like a no brainer to pack along my favorite cozy flannel and worn-in buckled booties. Those boots have stood the test of time, are oh-so-comfy, and are definitely up for a weekend of country living.
