Hi everybody! I hope you had a lovely long weekend! This weekend the weather got a little bit chilly, and I was so grateful for this perfect spring-weight sweater. Heavy enough to provide some warmth, airy enough to let the breeze through, and all around a perfect spring-to-summer transition piece. It was the perfect piece for an afternoon celebrating a friend’s birthday at a Brooklyn beer garden this weekend.

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and are ready for summer to hit in full force! This week kicks off some of my summer travels, and I am so excited to share my adventures with you all! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Daytime sequins

DSC_0371DSC_0349DSC_0381DSC_0367DSC_0320_2

I bought this top last fall before a weekend reunion with some of my favorites from college, thinking it would serve me well during the holiday season. I wore it a few times, loved it, and then tucked it away in my closet for a later date. This weekend I was digging around looking for a top to wear during some NYC exploring, and these sequins caught my eye. Never did I expect to style this top as a daytime look in spring, but sometimes inspiration strikes, and, well, here we are.

I often categorize various pieces in my closet as “nighttime” or “work” or “insert specific season here,” but lately I’ve been trying to think outside the box a little bit and mix things up. A year ago not only did I own no sequins, but I also thought their only place in life was during special occasions and/or Halloween. What I’ve found though, is that it’s actually amazing how easy it is to dress down a statement piece and make it feel like it would actually go really well with some sunshine. Layering is the key. Pairing your statement items with heavier, everyday pieces, will create texture and dampen the attention-grabbing effect.

What types of pieces do you have in your closet that you would never think to wear during a spring weekend day? Any chance you can pair it with a military jacket or a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and give it new life? I hope so. It’s a great way to expand the use of pieces you already own, and all I can think is cheers to that!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Monday and have a wonderful week!

Tunic shirts & cheetah shoes

DSC_0260DSC_0272DSC_0300DSC_0296DSC_0371

Hi everybody! Happy Thursday! I’ve been really into tunic shirts lately (last seen here). I’m not sure what it is, but they feel so easy to wear to me. Stick them on with a comfy pair of skinny jeans and a pair of cute shoes and you have yourself an outfit. An outfit that could be worn to work on a casual Friday (at most offices), a weekend brunch, or even a laid back springtime date. Love that.

On top of the good news about the easy outfit (you’re welcome), don’t forget about the other good news I have to offer – the giveaway I’m currently running with eShakti (see how much I love you guys?). See the full post here, but to recap, it’s a giveaway to win a big discount on custom tailored clothing. Which means the clothes fit, and they fit well. So you should enter. Also, two whole people win. Yay!

It’s super easy to enter:

  1. Follow Tailored and True on Instagram
  2. Like Tailored and True on Facebook
  3. Go to eShakti.com and select your favorite product. Comment below telling me you’ve completed the other steps and sharing your favorite item.

The giveaway will close on Sunday, March 29th at 11:59pm EST, and the two winners will be notified via Facebook (don’t worry – I’ll vet all entries!).

That’s it! I hope you all have a lovely Thursday!
