On the go: Striped sneakers & colorful sweater

Hi everybody! These pictures were actually taken last Sunday, when temperatures hit in the 90s during the day for what I believe was the first time in NYC this summer. I left the house wearing that minty sweater, which was quickly relegated to my bag. I spent most of the afternoon at my computer in a nearby cafe, but I usually find that I am far less productive when I feel like a slob, and putting together a real outfit pays dividends in how much I accomplish. It just makes me feel more focused and intentional.

Having a few tricks in the arsenal for looking put together with (very) minimal effort is really what I strive for always but its especially meaningful in the summer heat. I think it’s worth investing in a few lightweight summer tops that can easily be thrown on with shorts. These can be anything from simple cotton knit tees to more structured silk tank tops. By tucking my top into my shorts and adding a belt, this look was quickly transformed from something that is pretty standard into an outfit in the realm of cute.

What are your tricks for making a simple outfit a little bit more special?

Spring to summer: Chambray and gold details

Hi everybody! Happy Monday! Thank you so much to those of you who participated in the giveaway I hosted last week with Annie from Collective Passions. The winner is Lauren S.! Congratulations Lauren, look for an email in your inbox! The response was so great, and I’m so happy that you guys were excited about the necklace and earring set. I’ll be sure to hold another lovely giveaway soon.

In the mean time, summer feels like it’s fast approaching, and I love mixing fabrics and textures during the changing seasons. I love chambray because it feels like it works in any season, and the sheer nature of the stripes on the skirt make it a spring-y piece that can be worn all summer long. What are your favorite strategies for dressing for the spring to summer transition? As always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Leather jacket & suede wedges

I have been wearing these boyfriend jeans on repeat this spring. I can’t help it! They’re so easy to dress up and down, and they are oh-so-comfortable. This combo above is turning into my go-to. Easy tee, fitted jacket, my favorite jeans, and cute shoes. It’s always nice to really ride the wave in that comfort zone. It’s a great fall back for when something more daring just isn’t clicking. What are your spring go-tos?

In other news, don’t forget to enter the fabulous giveaway I’m running in conjunction with Collective Passions! This necklace and earring set (a $126 value – picture below!) are being given to one lucky reader. Signing up is easy and you can pick your poison.
