Hi everybody! This look is an outfit I wore for a casual family dinner last week before my brother and sister-in-law’s big day on Saturday. I love the open-back tank for beating the heat and this style of J. Crew shorts has been a staple of mine for years now. This color is new to my collection (and currently on sale!) and I am loving this pale purple color for summer. What are your go-to strategies for dressing to beat the heat?
Also, as a sneak peek, Tailored and True is due for a makeover. Right now I’m working behind the scenes, but check back on Monday to see the upgrade. I can’t wait to share!
Top: Express (old, current season here)
Bottoms: J. Crew
Shoes: BP Brand
Accessories: Ralph Lauren Sunglasses (old), Gorjana necklace (old), Bauble Bar ring, ring, and ring
This weekend I was so lucky to attend a beautiful wedding for my brother and sister-in-law at my parent’s house in Maine. The pair is perfect for each other, and we had a blast celebrating with them during a lovely outdoor wedding with perfect weather. You can see my Instagram for a few shots from their big day! This outfit I wore to their rehearsal dinner on Friday night.
I wanted to look properly festive but given the outdoor venue, I didn’t want to be overly formal. Pairing this cotton tee with the striped maxi skirt helped to achieve that balance. This maxi is great for warmer weather, since the light fabric allows the breeze to hit your legs and it doesn’t trap heat. And while this may seem like a no-brainer, I have to mention that wedges are the perfect option for dressing up for outdoor summer events. Stability and style, all in one. I will admit I’m not always a fan of the platform look (I think sometimes it makes feet look disproportionately large), but something about the espadrille fabric catches my eye in a good way with these and balances the proportions, and these wedges are quickly becoming a summer wardrobe staple for me.
I hope you all enjoyed the first day of summer and that your warm weather wardrobes are ready to go! Thanks so much for stopping by!
This weekend my roommate and I said goodbye to our old apartment near the beautiful reflection pool in Boston. We’re “trading up” to a new place closer to the Boston Commons. I’m really excited to be so close to the park and be able to shoot pictures for future blog posts over in that area!
This outfit has a slightly different feel from my typical styling choices. I tend to naturally gravitate towards fitted, structured pieces, so styling this top was a creative challenge for me! It has such a light and ethereal feel, and I love the subtle embroidery detail on the front of this shirt.
